Starting his career playing Feluda’s assistant and nephew Topshe in 1996, Saswata Chatterjee has come a long way, carving a niche of his own. He has continued to floor us playing a wide range of characters that are pole apart from each other.

And now the versatile actor has received an international recognition for his film ‘

Shironam

’ directed by Indranil Ghosh, a famous art director and brother of late Rituparno Ghosh. Saswata won the Best Actor award at the recently concluded Madrid International film festival.

After receiving appreciation from all corners following the screening of his directorial debut ‘Shironam’ at the

Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival

, Indranil’s film was also nominated at the London International Motion Pictures Award.

‘Shironam’ revolves around Abhin and Anandi whose peaceful life is shattered when he decides to cover a dreaded terrorist. As the cameraman of a prominent news channel, Abhin makes it his mission to uncover as many details as possible of his elusive foe, with his attempts leading him to grave danger. With their lives turned topsy-turvy, Anandi decides to step in and walk a perilous path that would change her life forever.

Beside Saswata, the film also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Swastika Mukherjee, Anjan Dutt, Saswata Chatterjee and Shantilal Mukhopadhyay in the lead.

Meanwhile, Saswata Chatterjee is currently shooting for Aniket Chattopadhyay’s fantasy drama ‘Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Montri’ in which he plays the king of Bombagarh.
