Your debut Bengali film, Antaheen, has bagged multiple National Awards and the buzz is that you are planning to work with Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury now...
I am very happy that Antaheen has done so well. Yes, I have been discussing a project with Aniruddha that is set in the Andamans.But then, I don't think he is starting that project anytime soon. So, it will be too early for me to talk about it. Besides, I won't be in the country for a year now. We definitely plan to work together again though we don't have a signed contract.
What's taking you abroad?
I am going to London to study dance. I've always been interested in dance and want to be a trained contemporary dancer. It will help me immensely in doing theatre as well.
Are you going on a scholarship?
How I wish had I got that! But no, it's my personal endeavour.
You are doing RGV's Rakta Charitra...
n We haven't finished shooting RC yet. It should get done by May. Ramu is fantastic and I'm lucky to have been cast in this film. He has immense clarity and works at great pace. His style of film-making is completely different from that of Aniruddha's.
RC is based on the real-life incidents
involving Paritala Ravi. Were there any apprehensions when you were approached to do a film on such a controversial subject?
n No, there were no apprehensions. Of course, I knew about him before I was approached for the movie. I'm playing Paritala Ravi's wife. I haven't met Paritala Ravi's wife in real life. Ramu has. He has also narrated stories about her. Besides, there is some footage available on her. I needed to study that to ensure that my on-screen look comes close to hers.
Do you think it would have been better had you met Paritala Ravi's wife in person?
It could have worked both ways. I have no regrets for not having met her.
You've been linked with Vivek Oberoi, who plays Paritala Ravi...
Yes. Poor thing, Vivek gets linked up with every co-star of his. We've discussed this and he has told me that it happens because he is single.
But, you were never linked with Rahul Bose while doing Antaheen. Why is the grapevine working overtime in Vivek's case?
It's true that I wasn't linked with Rahul. With Vivek, link-ups are pretty common. As long as Vivek is single, these things will happen. But I don't like being dragged into all this. I'm not dating Vivek.
