While Vivek Agnihotri is planning a sequel to Hate Story, Paoli Dam will not be a part of the film. Sources say that she isnt doing Vikram Bhatts Love Games a film that was supposed to explore the issues of wife-swapping. Buzz is that the actor will be a part of Vikram Bhatts next production a courtroom drama. Shooting of this film will begin in August.Ask Paoli, who is in Mumbai now, about her Bollywood career and she says, Ive some offers. Im doing another film with Vikram though I cant divulge its details now.
But whats exciting Paoli now is the offer to play a renowned cabaret dancer Miss Shefali in a film titled
Cabaret Queen by Gulbahar Singh. Miss Shefali was an extremely talented dancer. She cant be compared to the likes of Silk Smitha. People used to queue up to watch Miss Shefalis moves on the floor. She has also acted in two Satyajit Rays movies
Seemabaddha and
Pratidwandi. Ive never watched a live cabaret show but Ill do all the necessary homework. Someone will be appointed soon to teach me authentic cabaret moves in Kolkata.
Though the film attempts to showcase the ups and downs of her life, the final intention is to glorify Miss Shefalis life. We also want to feature the men in Miss Shefalis life. Care will be taken to respect the privacy of the men. Ill be learning cabaret and have five dance numbers in this Bengali film, she says from Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the actor is also doing a contemporary adaptation of Suchitra Sens
Deep Jwele Jaai. A Mumbai-based director, Saibal Mukherjee, will be directing a contemporary version of the movie. I have had preliminary discussions about the film, she says.
Incidentally, the Bengali Asit Sen film was remade in Hindi as
Khamoshi. It had Rajesh Khanna and Waheeda Rehman in the lead and was based on a nurses story. A buzz had done the rounds a few years back stating that Jennifer Aniston had been approached to reprise Waheeda Rehmans role in a Hollywood remake of titled
