Yet another impostor creates an online stir before actor Rahul Bose gets an e-mail from author Amitav Ghosh confirming that the latter isn't into micro blogging It came as a bouncer to many of Amitav Ghosh's fans who had begun following his
twitter account online. It turned out that someone was posing as the author and sending out tweets on his behalf! All speculation regarding the account came to an end when the author himself posted on his blog: "I was asked today whether I have a Twitter account.
Apparently someone is tweeting under the name 'ghoshamitav'. I would like it to be known that this is not me: I do not have a Twitter account and have not been sending out tweets."
Actor Rahul Bose also received an e-mail from the author to inform him about the imposter. Wrote Bose on his micro blogging site: "Oh dear. just received an email from
amitavghosh. it is an imposter on twitter. ah, well."
An interesting part of this whole drama was that sensing trouble the imposter changed the name of his handler from 'ghoshamitav' to 'riverofsmoke'. By the time the scam had become quite a talking point online (with actor Konkona Sen Sharma and singer Shreya Ghoshal also tweeting about it apart from other netizens), both the users surprisingly disappeared from the micro blogging site.
