In response to the latest Islamic cleric attack on her, Nusrat insists she celebrates every festival, respect humanity above all and controversies don't matter to her. The TMC MP recently participated in '

sindoor khela

' with her husband.

"I'm God’s special child. I celebrate all festivals. I respect humanity and love more than anything. I am very happy, controversies don't matter to me," Nusrat Jahan stated while during a 'sindoor khela' event with her husband Nikhil Jain at the Chaltabagan Durga Puja mandap in Kolkata.

Earlier, an Islamic cleric called Nusrat Jahan's action as 'anti-Islamic' after she performed Durga puja. The cleric accused her of destroying the religion. The cleric even urged Nusrat to change her name.

Addressing the media after offering puja, the actress turned TMC lawmaker had said she offered prayers to Maa Durga only to promote religious harmony. "I think I have my own way of portraying harmony towards all religions. Born and brought up in

Bengal

, I feel I am doing right by following culture and tradition. Here, we celebrate all the religious festivities," she clarified when asked about her decision to perform puja despite being a Muslim.
