The actor plays the same role in Chaar that he played once in a telefilm It's not often that an actor gets to reprise the same role on celluloid which he portrayed on television. But 17 years after he played Pratul in
Sandip Ray's telefilm,
Dui Bondhu,
Rajatava Dutta has once again slipped into the shoes of the same character in
Chaar. Both the projects are based on
Satyajit Ray's Kishorilaler Bondhu.
Says the director, Rajatava did a brilliant job as Pratul when I made that telefilm, but sadly, it wasn't telecast at that time. So, while conceptualizing
Chaar I was determined to cast him in the same role!" On his part, Rajatava, who just completed shooting for Anurag Basu's
Jagga Jasoos, says, When Babuda had cast me in his telefilm, I was just a junior artiste. The fact that he's cast me in the same role again while the rest of the crew has changed is a matter of pride for me."
The actor is also playing
Rituparna Sengupta's husband in
Pati Parameswar he was last paired with her 14 years ago in
Paromitar Ekdin. "I had a blast playing Ritu's husband in this comedy based on magic realism. Our last film as a couple was the turning point in my career," the actor signs off.
