Gumnaami’s box-office run continues

Gumnaami’s box-office run continues
Srijit Mukherji’s Gumnaami completed 50 days at the box office recently. The subject of the film has been a talking point for the entire country and has generated multiple debates and discussion.
Recently, the cast and crew of the film came together to celebrate this achievement with a cake-cutting ceremony and spoke about the arduous journey of the film’s making. Gumnaami is a film based on the Mukherjee Commission Hearings that happened from 1999 to 2005, where three theories about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s death were debated.

It is a dramatisation of these hearings, where an investigative journalist supporting the Gumnaami Baba theory locks horns with a lawyer who supports the plane-crash theory. In their clash, the Death in Russia theory also comes up. Speaking about this, Srijit said, “Gumnaami
is a film that is very close to my heart because of its subject. Netaji is someone I have worshipped as a hero since childhood. After many trials and tribulations, we could successfully bring the film to our audience. Their acceptance has helped us achieve this milestone.”
Gumnaami stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Tnusree Chakraborty and others. The music used in the film is the original soundtrack by INA & DL Roy and has been rearranged by music director, Indraadip Das Gupta.
Tnusree, too, is happy that the film has been accepted by the audience with open arms. “I thank the audience for their love and support to the film,” said the actress.
