Earlier this month the film bagged four awards at the prestigious Washington DC South Asian Film Festival. It won awards in the categories of the best feature film, best director for Goutam Ghose, best female actor for Tillotama Shome and the best male actor for Adil Hussain.

In June, ‘Raahgir’ had won two awards at the

UK Asian Film Festival

. While Gautam won the best director award and Tillotama grabbed the best female actor award.

The film starring Adil, Tillotama and Neeraj Kabi in the lead revolves around three strangers – Nathuni (Tillotama), Lakhua (Adil) and Chopatlal (Kabi) – who cross each other’s path accidentally on a journey and develop a strong bond.

The story showcases how Indian reality differs in the cities and in a poor tribal village. It’s a poignant story of humanity that is still alive among the poorest of the poor. ‘Raahgir’ celebrates empathy and humanity despite a struggle for survival. It deals with a story of India’s impoverished people who live in the forests and can hardly make ends meet.
