National award winning director
Goutam Ghose whose latest Hindi directorial ‘Raahgir’ has received appreciation from all corners amid its glorious festival round has a pretty interesting subject in mind for his next and it’s his dream project. When we asked the seasoned director about the same he gave a brief idea about the topic which is definitely something to look forward to.
“I have a dream project of making a historical film on Dara Shikoh, the heir apparent of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who was killed by Aurangzeb. He was a scholar and was inclined towards a culture of harmony. Had Dara Shikoh been the emperor, the history of our land perhaps would have been different,” said the director.
Coming back to his film ‘Raahgir’, it stars
Adil Hussain,
Tillotama Shome and
Neeraj Kabi in the lead. The plot revolves around three strangers – Nathuni (Tillotama), Lakhua (Adil) and Chopatlal (Kabi) – who cross each other’s path accidentally on a journey and develop a strong bond.
“The film primarily focuses on the humanity of common people, which is declining quite a lot these days. Due to various reasons, including the changes in socio-economic structure, people have become extremely selfish. People these days hardly even care about their neighbours, they are only concerned about their material gains. The film is based on a story by Prafulla Roy, set in this context,” said Goutam Ghose while speaking about ‘Raahgir’.
