And, I want to be recognized and established as an actor, says the dusky beauty. Resshmi has come a long way from being Miss India Earth 2002. Shes starred in Bollywood and Tollywood films, played important roles in TV soaps apart from, of course, commercials. But the journey has not been easy. When I started out, I starred in many films that never saw the light of the day.
Television was my last option and Im lucky that I have been able to make a mark with that, she says. We remember her playing the role of the catty Bhoomi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. From then on, Resshmi set out to conquer the small screen as Neena in Kahe Naa Kahe, Nisha in Karam Apna Apna, Mallika in Kayamath, Nupur in Tere Liye apart from taking part in dance reality shows, which, she believes are the right platform to launch oneself into acting. Young boys and girls are lucky today! There are a bevy of dance reality shows on television nowadays. If you observe, most of the participants end up foraying into television. The reverse is also true, that most actors we see on TV , are winners of dance reality shows. And why not? Dance is the best way to emote.
Resshmi would soon be seen in a major, but not the lead role in her upcoming release Uro Chithi. Her last release was Paa Maa Gaa Ree Saa that failed to gather much flutter. But Resshmi is optimistic and says that she wouldnt want to get typecast in particular roles. What matters is the kind of work that Im doing and I want people to remember me for that. When asked about who she thinks is doing well in the industry, currently, she talks about Koel Mallick. Ive seen Koel grow into the beautiful person and actor that she is. I wish her well. Resshmi also feels that The Times of India is almost like a family to her. I share a beautiful relationship with the brand and theyve always supported me.
It was evident during the shoot when she couldnt stop gushing about the latest range of TOI Collectables that she liked so much. Theyre a range of merchandise brought out by the Times Group, in association with Archies, the experts in merchandise. The themes essentially revolve around The Common Man, and you can also bring home landmark pages from TOI and the newsprint typeface used in witty themes, as part of the products.
There are mini-organizers, A5 notebooks, binders, wall clocks, umbrellas, metal sippers, coffee sippers, alarm clocks, cube clocks, mugs, etc. The TOI Collectables are available in Kolkata at select Archies Gallery stores and on www.archiesonline.com.
