For Gargee RoyChowdhury, actor
Soumitra Chatterjee is still the flamboyant hero from Teen Bhuboner Pare or the extremely intelligent Feluda from Sonar Kella and Joy Baba Felunath. So, when it comes to working with the veteran actor, the actress cannot help but feel more than happy about the opportunity.
“When the character of Suva Sarkar was offered to me, I was more than thrilled.
I was a lot more excited about playing Amitava Sarkar’s (played by Soumitra) wife than being a part of the film. While the story is absolutely brilliant with several layers, working with Soumitra Chatterjee was what made me extremely happy,” said Gargee at the press meet of Sraboner Dhara, which was organised at the ongoing Kolkata International Film Festival on Tuesday. She said that even today when she attends an event and sees Soumitra there, she always tries to get a seat beside him.
While the film will release in February, the screening was held at KIFF on Monday. Directed by
Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha, it also stars Parambrata Chatterjee, who is playing the character of Dr Nilava Roy. The story revolves around Alzheimer’s disease and how it causes troubles in relationships. “During the shoot of the film, there was one sequence in which I had to give a very mild but apt expression. After the shot, Soumitrada came and told me ‘bhalo hoyeche’ (good job) and I was on cloud nine. I kept sharing this incident with my friends, family and colleagues till they were bored to death,” Gargee signed off.
