From the pages of a book to the big screen – ‘Babli’ to release on August 15; Trailer out now

Tollywood is set to witness a new on-screen pair this Independence Day. Abir Chatterjee and Subhashree Ganguly are set to mesmerise the audience with their new film ‘Babli’. Helmed by Raj Chakraborty, the film is set to release on August 15. The trailer of ‘Babli’ is out now.

‘Babli’, helmed by Raj Chakraborty, is based on the popular novel ‘Babli’ by noted Bengali author Buddhadeb Guha. The story follows the journey of a young adult woman named Babli, who thinks she is unworthy of being the female protagonist in an author’s eye. ‘Babli’ also explores the evolution of the romantic equation between Babli and Abhirup Sen, a smart, conventionally handsome young man.

The trailer of the film focuses on the ups and downs in the relationship between Babli and Abhirup, (played by Subhashree Ganguly and Abir Chatterjee) giving the audience a sneak peek into their intriguing chemistry. From a blossoming love affair to a complicated domestic life fuelled by envy and insecurity – the trailer efficiently captures the essence of the story. On top of that, the trailer provides a glimpse of the stunning North Eastern landscape that is going to be one of the USPs of the film.

The trailer of ‘Babli’ also delves into the character of Jhuma Bose, (Sauraseni Maitra) Babli’s childhood friend and now an attractive air hostess, who adds layers to the equation between Babli and Abhirup.

Will Babli, Abhirup and Jhuma’s equations lead to a love triangle that will break Babli and Abhirup’s bonding? The audience will find the answer on August 15.

‘Babli’ marks Abir Chatterjee and Raj Chakraborty coming together once again after their successful projects like ‘Bojhena Shey Bojhena’, ‘Kanamachi’ and ‘Katmundu’. It is also the first time that Subhashree will be seen on the big screen since the birth of her daughter Yaalini in 2023.

‘Babli’ is slated to have a theatrical release on August 15.
