​As the semi-nude body of the 31-year-old woman post-graduate trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered inside a seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was found on August 9 morning – a nationwide outrage gained momentum. Doctors across the country started a movement demanding women’s safety at the workplace and the mass joined in. Media personalities, artists too are accelerating the movement and the Bengali entertainment industry is no exception. Take a look at how Tollywood celebs reacted to the RG Kar Murder-Rape case.

​Dev’s next film ‘Khadaan’s teaser was supposed to be released on Wednesday. Dev, who is the lead actor and producer of the film, took to social media to announce the postponement of the event. Dev shared a statement on social media writing, “As a team that stands firmly against such atrocities, we have decided to postpone the release of the teaser for our film ‘Khadaan’. At this time, our focus should be on seeking justice for the victim.”

​Tollywood superstar Jeet took to social media to express his thoughts on the RG Kar Muder-Rape case. Reflecting on the incident, Jeet wrote, “We are a day away from Independence Day. But at times a question remains, have we truly achieved freedom?” Jeet asked, “Why women in our society are still targeted? Why do such heinous crimes still happen? What should we do as a society to put an end to such crimes?”

This heinous act is a stark reminder of the deep-rooted issues of violence against women that continue to plague our society. We must demand immediate justice for the victim and hold the perpetrators accountable with the full force of law.” Ridhima also stated, “We must fight for a society where women can live without fear, and where those who commit such atrocities are met with Zero tolerance.”
