First-look poster of Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jisshu Sengupta’s ‘Mahalaya’ is out

After receiving the No Objection Certificate from Birendra Krishna Bhadra, Uttam Kumar and Pankaj Mullick’s families, director Soumik Sen is ready for his next ‘Mahalaya’ based on Bengal's famous Durga Puja tradition. The period drama has been in the news ever since the film was announced. Now the first look motion poster of the much-awaited film is finally out and it looks quite intriguing.


As per reports, Jisshu Sengupta will portray Uttam Kumar on the celluloid, while Subhamoy Chatterjee will play Pankaj Mullick and Subhashish Mukherjee will be seen as Birendra Krishna Bhadra.We have seen Jisshu playing Uttam Kumar's role already as the sleuth character Byomkesh Bakshi in Anjan Dutt’s ‘Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana’. ‘Mahalaya’ will also witness popular actor Prosenjit Chatterjee as a producer, who is believed to be playing an important character in the upcoming Bengali drama.
The plot of this movie is all about the controversial change in 1976 that Mahalaya on the radio went through as Bengal’s matinee idol Uttam Kumar replaced legendary Birendra Krishna Bhadra.
