Veteran filmmaker Tarun Majumdar’s health condition has deteriorated and he has been shifted to the critical care unit (CCU) after he was admitted to SSKM hospital a few days ago. A senior official of the hospital has revealed that they are keeping a close watch on the noted filmmaker’s current condition.

The 92-year-old director has been suffering from kidney and heart-related ailments for a long time and he had to be admitted to the hospital with certain uneasiness last week. On Tuesday evening, Tarun Majumdar’s condition deteriorated a bit and the doctors decided to shift him to the CCU and a team of doctors is currently monitoring his condition. According to a hospital source, he’s not yet out of danger but responding to the treatment.

The renowned Bengali filmmaker reportedly got sick after he went to see locations for his next film. Doctors believe he’s suffering from chronic renal failure.

The Padma Shri award-winning director has five Filmfare awards to his credit and he is best known for his critically acclaimed films including Smriti Tuku Thak (1960), Palatak (1963) and Ganadevata (1978). Majumdar also delivered blockbusters such as Balika Badhu (1976), Kuheli (1971), Shriman Prithviraj (1972) and Dadar Kirti (1980).
