Fatherhood takes centre stage in Baba
Ahead of Father’s Day, Baba is an emotional yet action-packed story centred on fatherhood, sacrifice and survival. Directed by Jiit Chakraborty, the film marks his fifth directorial venture.
The film has already drawn attention for its striking tagline: “For my child, I won’t think twice before dying, and not even once before killing.” According to the director, Baba is more than just a commercial entertainer and explores the fierce, unconditional love of a father through a deeply personal lens.
Featuring Vikram Chatterjee, Aparajita Addhya, Mamata Shankar, Kanchan Mullick and others, the film follows Gaurav, a journalist raised in an orphanage, whose biggest dream is to become the world’s best father. After marrying his childhood companion Rai and welcoming their daughter, his excessive protectiveness slowly begins to affect his family life. As Gaurav investigates a child trafficking racket operating in Kolkata, he finds himself caught between professional ethics and paternal instinct. What follows is a tense battle against a dangerous nexus, with the narrative blending action, romance, humour and emotional conflict while also shedding light on harsh realities faced by street children and victims of trafficking.
