An unreleased original composition titled
Saware was unveiled at a music launch, introducing listeners to a contemporary reimagining of the classical Thumri form. The evening brought together members of the film and music fraternity, with actor
Abir Chatterjee present at the launch.
Composed and sung by visually impaired singer-composer Sayani Palit,
Saware draws from the emotional vocabulary of Thumri while placing it within a modern, experimental soundscape. The arrangement by Nilanjan Ghosh bridges classical influences with contemporary textures, allowing the composition to move fluidly between tradition and present-day expression.
The music video, directed by
Satrajit Sen, complements the song with a poetic visual narrative. Featuring actors Supratim Roy and Sayani Dutta, the video explores themes of memory, longing and emotional transformation through restrained performances and evocative imagery.
Speaking about the song, Palit described
Saware as a personal work that reflects how music shapes her perception of the world. Sen noted that the visual treatment was designed to be suggestive rather than literal, mirroring the song’s emotional flow.
Actors Supratim and Sayani spoke of the song’s quiet intensity and its reliance on music and movement over dialogue. At the event, Abir praised the honesty of the composition and highlighted the emotional depth of Palit’s voice, calling the work both rooted and exploratory.
