Sreelekha Mitra has recently wrapped up the shoot of her debut directorial ‘
Bitter Half
’. She also stars in the film, which features
Bharat Kaul and
Chandri Mukherjee
in important roles.
“The film is about a couple. Actually, it is a love triangle. But I can’t reveal more about the story now, except that I’ve drawn inspiration from O Henry’s The Gift of the Magi. The film shows how in today’s world most emotions have become just showing off on social media. The mushy posts of Happy Anniversary of most couples on
social media
are fake; it’s just to show the world how happy they are. But in reality, are they happy? In the past, emotions were more genuine, I feel. The film shows how unknowingly the better half turns into a bitter half,” Sreelekha shared with ETimes while speaking about her dream project.
When asked how difficult is it to act and direct at the same time, Sreelekha said, “It is not only direction and acting. I also did the art direction and costumes. Most stuff from my house were now on the sets and I’ve loved it! Actually, I have the film chalked out in my mind, so I know exactly what to do and how to handle it.”
Meanwhile, Sreelekha has already started working on the script of his next directorial and she would like to cast Rituparna Sengupta in it. If Rituparna can't do the film then she will reach out to Bollywood actors Diya Mirza or Urmila Matondkar.
On the acting front, Sreelekha was last seen in Anik Dutta's 'Barunbabur Bondhu'.
