Ecstatic to see cinemas filled to the brim: Kolkata exhibitors

The audience will always come back to theaters to watch good content
The five films running at our theatres – Gadar 2, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Oh My God 2, Oppenheimer & Byomkesh O Durgo Rohosyo did great business in the I-Day weekend. I can’t remember when was the last time all films being screened did such a huge business. It also shows if you can produce good content, the audience will come back to the theater to watch it

After years, we had housefull night shows
This weekend boosted the morale of all exhibitors as all running films did well at the BO. Gadar 2 and Byomkesh O Durgo Rohosyo had housefull shows. And after years, we had housefull night shows. This turnaround was great for us after the pandemic, assuring exhibitors that no matter what the audience watches on OTT, the joy of watching movies in theatres will always
be there

Shows for all the three films currently running in our theatre – Byomkesh O Durgo Rohosyo, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Oh My God 2 — were fully booked from Friday to Tuesday. This also proves that people will come back to theatres to watch good movies, as content is king. The overwhelming business we did indicates that people still love to watch films on the big screen

One couldn’t hear the dialogues amidst whistles and applauseIt was after a long time, single screen owners had a wonderful weekend. There was a huge response for Gadar 2 with all shows running at full capacity for the weekend and on I-Day. Such was the audience mood that one couldn’t hear the dialogues amidst the whistles and applause that followed every appearance of Sunny Deol. Seeing him in action was a feast for their eyes. In fact, all Sunny Deol films that released in our theatre in the ’90s and early 2000s were hits and set box-office records
