Director
Atanu Ghosh, along with
Raja Sen and
Jagannath Guha, spoke about the touchy topic of censorship. “We filmmakers face a strange situation when it comes to censorship. Often a film is given an A certification. But when the same film releases online, there is no censorship! It is high time that we give the Cinematograph Act of 1952 a serious thought,” he said at a discussion at the open forum. Director
Anindya Banerjee, whose film, Smug, will premiere at
KIFF
, was present on the first day of the festival. “I had sent it for competition, but the jury said there were a few issues with its execution. I have no complaints,” he said.
