Directors laud short film by Xavier's student

Sudeshna Roy, Sumit Samaddar and Abhijit Guha were present at the special screening of The Day After Tomorrow at a city gallery recently.
Bratya Basu was also spotted at the screening, who came down to encourage young director Abhiroop Basu. "The film is based on women and how they are considered objects of Sexual Desire. this is a social satire," said the director, who is a student of St Xaviers' College.
The short film, which has been to many prestigious film festival around the country, was lauded by the directors and actors present. "The film shown in the form of a satire, mocks a society obsessed with animalistic approach towards women and warns about a possiblly dark future. The film can also be called a dystopian one. But with that dark future so dangerously close, it feels scary to stand on the brink of something so horrifying and hopeless," added Abhiroop.
The film has been to many festival including, "Mumbai Women's International Film Festival 2014, 3rd Delhi International Film Festival 2014, 5th Siliguri International Film Festival 2014, 7th Jaipur International Film Festival 2014, Pune International Short Film Festival 2014, Imphal International Short film festival 2014, 9180 Shortfest, Bangalore 2014, A Short Evening with Films, Hyderabad, Hysteria Feminist Convention, Eye Art Collective initiative, Kolkata.
