Did Sohini Sengupta refuse to play Pishima 21 years back?

Director Partha Pratim Deb had to wait for 21 long years to cast Sohini Sengupta as Pishima in Goynar Baksho. After the sixth performance of the play at Madhusudan Mancha, Partha said, "I had adapted this Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay text for stage in 1996. It was before Nachni and Panchajanya. Back then, I had approached Sohini to play the central character — Pishima. For me, it was either her or another play altogether." Sohini, on her part, added, "I was too young to play Pishima.Now is the right time to get under the skin of the character."
