Dibyendu Bhattacharya fails to attend his mother’s last rites in Kolkata due to Covid

Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who is currently shooting in

Turkey

for an untitled feature film, lost his mother in Kolkata recently and because of

COVID

restrictions, the actor could not fly back to attend her last rites. His mother, 72-year-old Gayatri Bhattacharya, passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest.

While talking to us from Turkey, Dibyendu said, "I was shooting at night when I got the news and spent the entire day crying. It is true that no matter how much one grows up, losing mother is an irreparable loss and you are never prepared for it. I gave a shot for an action sequence and then a comic one, and it was at that moment I truly understood the meaning of 'the show must go on'.”

Dibyendu, who is known for his roles in

Black Friday

, Dev D, etc, left for Turkey in April and according to our sources, he is shooting with Parineeti Chopra and Hardy Sandhu in a film by Ribhu Dasgupta. Given the pandemic situation, flying back to Kolkata and joining the shooting team again seemed an upheaval task for the actor.
