Amid his super busy promotional activities for ‘Bagha Jatin’, Dev made some startling revelations. He revealed that despite receiving multiple offers from Bollywood, he turned down them. According to the Tollywood hunk, he isn't the type of person who would debut in Bollywood just for the sake of playing any character. So, what exactly did Dev have to say about Bollywood?
Dev is undoubtedly among the biggest superstars in Bengal.
He has delivered back-to-back hits recently including ‘Projapati’ with
Mithun Chakraborty. With every new film, the actor seems to reinvent himself – breaking barriers and setting new benchmarks. His influence in Tollywood and the vastness of his fan base are known to all.
However, while several Bengali stars like
Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jisshu U Sengupta,
Swastika Mukherjee,
Paoli Dam,
Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Tota Roychoudhury are making waves in Bollywood with back-to-back projects, did Dev never receive such offers from Bollywood? In a recent interview addressing the Bollywood chances, the actor said, "Yes, I did. I won't lie; I received calls for a few movies. I won't name anyone today, but those roles didn't feel right to me. Not all characters make me happy, and to play a character, one has to genuinely feel connected and happy about it. Whatever I'm doing in Bengali cinema needs to have as much weight."

He further added, "I am content with what I am doing here. This doesn't mean I've confined myself within a narrow boundary or that I don't wish to work in Bollywood." According to Dev, "If you're doing so well in your own region, just debuting in Bollywood for the sake of it doesn't make professional sense. I'm content with the little that I'm achieving in the Bengali industry. It's better to be a big fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big pond."
Meanwhile, Dev’s latest ‘Bagha Jatin’ released on October 19. The film revolves around the intriguing story of legendary Bengali freedom fighter Bagha Jatin, with Dev in the lead role, opposite the newcomer Sreeja Dutta, and also features Sudiptaa Chakrabarty. Alongside ‘Bagha Jatin’, three other Bengali films ‘Raktabeej’, ‘Dawshom Awbotaar’, and ‘Jungle Mitin Mashi’ hit the big screens on the same day.
