Subhashree Ganguly, whos all set to essay Maa Durga in Mahisasura Mardini, says its a dream-come-trueThe buzz doing the rounds is that you are geared up to essay Maa Durga in Mahisasura Mardini, to be aired on a private Bengali channel on Mahalaya...Yes, at least for this year, Im Maa Durga! I still remember, during my childhood, how my cousins and I would wake up at the crack of dawn just to listen to the special Mahalaya show on radio and then catch the dance drama on telly.
In my heart of hearts, Ive always wished to play Maa Durga and today, my dream has come true.
How do you interpret this Supreme Force?Maa Durga symbolises the power of the Supreme Being. Durga stands for the unified symbol of all divine forces. The spark in her eyes says it all!
Rewinding back a little, your last release, Poran Jaye Joliya Re, was one-and-a-half years back. Didnt it frustrate you to see your contemporaries gaining foothold when you are jobless?I dont agree with the term, jobless. I was never out of work. It was my decision not to work with any other production house, other than the one that made me what I am today... I guess, it didnt have any suitable role for me in its projects! I kept waiting. I wanted to complete my three-film deal before signing up with any other house. Isnt it hard to believe that I didnt get any offers after two back-to-back superhits Challenge and PJJR? I was deluged with offers, but I refused as I depended solely on the production house to which I was contract-bound.
Do you regret being a loyalist?(Laughs) Not at all! The production company never stopped me from working with others. It was my decision not to work with others! But now, I have three films in my kitty. Though too premature as of now, Im also in talks with Raja Chanda for his next.
The production company referred to is known to make or break an actors career in Tollywood. Arent you scared to move ahead? Excuse me! I dont have any issues with anyone! I believe in PEACE. Im sure the production house is not finding any suitable role for me and theres no question of having any problems with it. I am grateful to it from the core of my heart. It has made Subhashree!
Do you see competition in Srabanti? It might sound clichd, but my competition is with myself, even if I am part of this rat race! Srabanti is much more experienced as an actor. She has been around for a longer time than I have.
Heard you are sweating it out in the gym for two to three hours...I want the audience to watch a new Subhashree, who is going to be back with a bang!
So, whos your favourite actor in Tollywood?Of course, Dev. He is a superstar, he has that aura. I also like Soham for his acting.
But whenever Dev is asked about his favourite actor, he mentions Koel Mallick and not you...
Whose names Dev will plot as Nos. 1, 2, 3 or 4 on his list of faves, is entirely his call.
Your relationship with Dev has always been speculated about...Dev is a close friend and the audience wants us to see us together on-screen, as we are considered a hit pair. I dont pay heed to baseless rumours.
Your last film together was one-and-a-half years back. There cant be smoke without fire...Fire, smoke, water... I dont understand either. Dev is a good friend. Period.
But this friendship can also take a predictable turn...I dont even want to think on those lines. It will demean the friendship we share.
Do you share such gossip with Dev?No way!
Did you meet him after he met with an accident? No. I called him up to enquire after his health. Both of us keep a busy schedule. Isnt it obvious to call up a friend on hearing a news like that? Why read between the lines?
Interestingly, your comeback film too is with Dev...Can I possibly have a hand in this? The director and producers will be in a better position to answer this question. I didnt know Dev is cast opposite me in Shankaryas film, until recently. But, its true that people want to see more of this pairing on-screen. Im being asked about it all the time!
