Dev had nourished the dream of working with Soumitra Chattopadhyay for more than a decade and finally he will share a considerable screen space with an icon, who has 60 years of experience in films.

The Tollywood star is bowled over by the 'incredible energy' of the thespian even at this age. “his dedication, his hunger for good roles, his discipline cannot be matched apart from his acting repertoire. We used to chat in between shots and when I asked him about his rapport with Uttam Kumar, he recalled how Uttam Kumar followed him in his car after both were returning during late hours and ensured Soumitra Chattopadhyay reached home safely. Such love is hard to be seen in these days,” said an excited Dev.

Commenting on his simple, average guy look in ‘

Sanjhbati

’, Dev said, “I had to put to sleep my superstar self and work on the appearance front as well. I had to change my hair style and wear different attire. Here lies the challenge for an actor, that he can rise to the challenge of becoming the character he portrays.”

Produced by Bengal Talkies and directed by Leena Gangopadhyay and Saibal Banerjee, ‘Sanjhbati’ is the story of two elderly and lonely parents, played by Soumitra Chatterjee and Lily Chakraborty, who are neglected by their aloof children. While Phuli (Paoli Dam) takes care of Sulekha (Lily Chakraborty), Chadu (Dev) is with Chhana Dadu (Soumitra Chatterjee).

‘Sanjbati’ releases on December 20.
