Aador, directed by Debdut Ghosh is based on Adorini by novelist Sri Prabhat Kumar Mukhopadhyay. Its trailer was launched recently by Kamaleswar Mukherjee and Rupa Ganguly as a tribute to the novelist on his 150th birth anniversary.
Aador narrates the story of a young female elephant and the plot unfolds in a small village named Kharkai in Tripura. The story begins with a village lawyer named Joyram Mukherjee , a person of moderate income who buys an elephant to respond to the arrogance of a big zamindar family of that locality. Joyram was the legal advisor of the zamindar’s late father and had saved him from many critical situations. It is when Joyram requests the zamindar to send an elephant for the joy ride on his daughter’s marriage, he is rudely turned down by the zamindar’s wife. The old man feels insulted and is disappointed by this behaviour as he believed the Zamindar would never turn down a dear friend of his father. He becomes so adamant that he buys an elephant with all the money that he had saved for the future of his family. The story traces how the young elephant becomes a part of his family and is treated like Joyram’s own daughter. He lovingly names her Aador and what happens next is what the film is all about.
The film stars Rajatava Dutta, Tulika Basu, Pradip Chakraborty, Basabdatta Chattopadhay, Biplab Bandhopadhay, Manashi Sinha and others in prominent characters.
