Debajyoti Mishra faced a challenge composing for spiritual thriller

A live musical performance kept the gathered crowd glued as the team of Raajhorshee Dey’s Purbo Poschim Dokkhin Uttor Ashbei launched their music album a city mall on Thursday evening.
Debajyoti Mishra, who is the music composer of this film, said, “There are three different songs in the film sung. They are sung by Arko Mukhaerjee, Iman Chakraborty and Rupankar. All the songs and the background score are connected to the film.The song, Daak Shono, by Arko Mukhaerjee, is a heavy number, much like Arko’s style of singing. The lyrics are penned by Anirban Mukhopadhyay. Mithe Roddur is sung by Iman and it is a romantic song. Rupankar has rendered his voice in the song Mon Khonje, which is again a love song,” informed Debajyoti.
The plot of the film unfolds through an eventful rail journey. Stuti, a widow suffering from a terminal disease, can only be treated by a particular doctor. During her journey, a co-passenger narrates three interconnected stories. The stories relate to the worship of Goddess Kali and the practice of tantra in Bengal at the time of renowned Bengali scholar and pioneer of tantra KrishnanandaAgamavagisha.
“The three stories run parallel and have a different theme of music. But, at the end everything gets connected. To compose music for a spiritual thriller is not easy because the songs have to appeal to the audience. I have tried my best, the rest is up to the audience,” said the music director.
