After grappling with uncertainty for almost five months, the shoot of Nirmal Charkraborty’s Datta may resume once again from November. In another development, composer Joy Sarkar has been roped in as the film’s music director. As of now, it is decided that Datta will have four songs, out of which three will be Rabindrasangeet.

The director told us that Joy is one of the most versatile composers in the industry and he didn’t have to think twice before zeroing in on him. “The work will not start right away because Joy is busy till Puja. He will start working on the project after the festival,” he said. Talking about the shoot, Nirmal said that there is a high chance that the shoot will start from November and wrap up by December. He added that things are currently on hold due to location related problems.

Besides, it is still doubtful whether Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed, who is part of the project, would be able to return to India to work in the film. Though Nirmal can’t say anything right now, he is still hopeful about Ferdous’ return. “By the end of this month, we will take a call whether or not to keep him in the film,” he added.

Rituparna Sengupta is also part of Datta, which is a romantic story, influenced by the Victorian notion of 'romantic love'. It dwells on the growing attachment, despite all odds, between an affluent Brahmo woman and an indigent but brilliant
