Dancer-choreographer Mehendi Chakraborty presented an evening of protest and rebellion through dance, songs and poetry. Her dance company, Nritya Rhythm, showcased an invocation titled Yaa Devi Sarvabhuteshu earmarking the violence against women that have been rampant across the country. The lights, choreography and even the costumes, conceptualized by Mehendi reflected the ethos of the times replete with the path of emancipation. Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee's arts collective members presented a powerful narrative as an ode to womanhood. Members of Sanskar Bharati presented a soulful musical performance. Next on the cards was an artistic ensemble of CHOU artists of Midnapore who performed an innovative piece on reflections of mythology in dark times. Vocalist Jayati Chakraborty was felicitated on the occasion, and she encouraged the talent on stage. "I have been feeling insecure as a human, vulnerable as a woman and my ravaged soul expressed this evening on stage through choreography and stories", said Mehendi.
