The short film on addiction features Kankana as an alcoholic mother. In town on a holiday, she said, I play Cossette, an alcoholic, who is restrained from meeting her daughter as per court order. On a fateful night, she barges into her estranged husbands house to meet the child, but even when she gets a chance, she messes it up. The morale of the story is: when it comes to addiction, no one can help you other than yourself.

Adding that addiction is a raging issue in the US, Kankana said, they are planning to turn the short into a web series. Coming Nowhere can be treated as one of the episodics. It was my co-actor Israel Listers graduation film and he requested a college senior, Amalia Rodriguez, to direct it. Israel has done a fantastic job of writing the story. We are very happy that the film is part of Cannes Short Film Festival and are looking forward to attend the annual gala in May, she said. Kankana added that the short is inspired by the film, The Basketball Diaries and also stars popular American actor Peter Onorati of

Goodfellas

fame in a cameo. The young actor, who is also interested in making docus/shorts and has her hands full currently, said she would be back in Kolkata with an interesting project.
