Just like most of the movies from

Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s Windows,
Kaushik Ganguly’s upcoming ‘
Lokkhi Chhele
’ too has a very relevant social message and sheds light on the superstition and stigmas in rural India and Bengal. Shot mostly in the rural interiors of Purulia district, this film starring Kaushik’s son Ujaan in the lead follows the life of a young doctor who stood against social superstitions prevalent in the rural areas and is hell bent on bringing in a sea of changes among the villagers.
The makers and production house have been tight-lipped about the rest of the cast, but there's a strong buzz that Churni Ganguly might be seen in a key role after a very long time. Interestingly, Churni is also a playing one of leads in husband Kaushik's other movie starring Jaya Ahsan alongside her. Lokkhi Chhele also stars Ambarish Bhattacharya in a journalist’s role.
Meanwhile Ujaan who made his debut with Pavel directed ‘Rosogolla’ last year feels working with his father is more than a privilege to him.
“We both knew at the back of our minds that the project will happen someday but we didn’t know it will happen so early and that too with Windows Productions. The person I will work with now is my father, friend and director altogether. Everybody knows him as the renowned director, but don’t know about his other two avatars. So I have to prepare myself, keeping all these things in mind,” said Ujaan for whom opportunity of working with his father came as a surprise and this one is a dream project to both.
