A retro dining in Kolkata hosted a magical Christmas celebration filled with joy, music, and festive cheer. The event featured the Sumit Roy, Kolkata’s “King of Calypso,” along with the Carolzingers, marking their third consecutive Christmas performance at the venue. The lively atmosphere transformed the entire Southern Avenue lane into a wonderland, as about 150 children from different NGOs danced and sang along to classic Christmas carols.
The performance included cherished Christmas tunes like Little Drummer Boy, Santa Claus Is Coming in a Boogie Woogie Chu Chu Train, Silver Bells, Mary’s Boy Child, Feliz Navidad, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells (including a Bengali rendition), and Jingle Bell Rock. A special highlight was a rarely heard Bengali composition, Ki Moja Christmas, which captured hearts with its poignant lyrics.
“We wanted to make this Christmas morning extra special for children by combining music, food, and gifts. The overwhelming enthusiasm we witnessed last year inspired us to host this celebration again. This celebration has become an annual affair now and our patrons now look forward to this grand celebration every year,” said Shiladitya Chaudhury and Debaditya Chaudhury, who organized the event.
The event was a joyous gathering of children and residents, who thoroughly enjoyed the live performances and festive vibes.
