Chandan in Suman's next?

Film-maker Suman Mukhopadhyay sends Chandan Roy Sanyal the script for his next 'low-budget' film...
Chandan in Suman's next?
When Suman Mukhopadhyay watched Kaminey, he liked Chandan Roy Sanyal's energy in his performance.
Later, when he came across an interview of Chandan in Calcutta Times on August 19, he sourced the number of this Mumbai-based actor. On Wednesday morning, he sent Chandan an SMS asking whether the actor would be interested in working in a low-budget Bengali film.

'I introduced myself as the maker of Herbert and Chaturanga. I thought it was best to mention at the outset that I was making a low-budget film,' Suman said. But what Chandan sent as a reply took Suman completely by surprise: 'Aare Lalda, tumi bhule gele? Ami Chandan!'
For those not in the know, Lal is Suman's nickname. 'I had seen Chandan's performance in Tim Supple's A Midsummer Night's Dream. But I could not recognise him when I watched Kaminey. He is from Habib Tanvir's team,' Suman said. The director has offered Chandan a character in his next film. 'The character's name is Rohit. He is an MBA guy, troubled by a broken marriage.
Rohit goes into a state of psychosis and hallucination, breaks into a magic realistic state as he gets agitated and drunk. This character is from Nabarun Bhattacharya's Angshik Chandragrahan,' Suman said.
Chandan, who is now down with a slip disc, is also excited with this offer. 'For an actor, it's great if his performance is so convincing that the viewer can't recognise his off-screen persona, while he is acting on screen.
One of my closest friends, Jayjit, works with him. I remember going out for dinner with Lalda too. Lalda's script sounds interesting and I've asked him to mail it. I'm also auditioning for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's next production for the role of an actor from Punjab who dreams of making it big in Hollywood.'
If all goes well, Suman would want to begin shooting for this film with Chandan in the first week of October.
