Arindam Sil turns a year older today. The director is happy to be working on his birthday. “My birthday celebrations kickstarted last night. My friends came over to my house to ring in my birthday. Just at midnight, my daughter Sonika call from Bengaluru to wish me. This morning, too, my friends came over to celebrate my birthday over breakfast. From Koraisutir kochuri, aloor dom, croissant, a variety of sandwiches and cakes — the spread was elaborate, I don’t think I can have lunch after eating so much! But my wife is cooking something special for lunch,” said Arindam. Talking more about his birthday plans, the director added, “I will be back to work in the afternoon. I have a script-reading session for my next Byomkesh. I also have a pre-production meeting with my team as Iskaboner Bibi will go on the floors from the first week of April. Post that I have to attend a debate. My friends have organised a party for me at night, so I will attend that. So, even if it’s a working birthday, there are celebrations galore — exactly the way I like it.”
What are his birthday resolutions, we ask Arindam? “The pandemic has taught us the importance of family and health. So, besides work, I want to spend more time with my family and lead a healthy life. And of course, I want to entertain my audience by bringing to the big screen good, meaningful films,” said Arindam.
