Celebration of Bengali films
The fifth Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival is on in full swing. The festival opened with Debesh Chattopadhyay’s Iye yesterday and today, three Bengali films will be screened back-to-back. These are Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha’s Benche Thakar Gaan, Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s Goodnight City and the yet-unreleased Sonar Pahar, directed by Parambrata Chatterjee. In the offing is a discussion on classic films with veteran director Tarun Majumdar.

Another highlight of the day’s schedule is an interaction with Rainbow Jelly maker Soukarya Ghosal. The other films scheduled for screening at the festival include Alifa, Pupa, Roktokorobi. The festival will close with Atanu Ghosh’s Mayurakshi, which was adjudged as the Best Bengali Film at this year’s National Film Awards.
