Debasish Kundu's encounter with plants sprouting from discarded idols during his mother's ashes immersion in the Ganges profoundly impacted him. Inspired by this experience, he created a home garden using the idols as a fertile base. This reflects the river's cycle of dissolution and renewal, showcasing nature's remarkable capacity to heal and sustain life.
Photographer Debasish Kundu’s experience four years ago reshaped his thoughts about life. “I was immersing my mother’s ashes in the Ganges, when I came across countless small plants sprouting from a few idols lying along the riverbank,” he told us, adding that this inspired him to create a garden at home, where the goddess’ idols formed the fertile bed for plants.
