Bollywood film-maker Vinod Chhabra, who is better known for films like Meena Bazaar, Shaque, Papi Gudiya and My Husband's Wife, is all set to can his first Bengali. venture, starring Mukesh Rishi, Kunal Padhy, Biswanath Basu, Indrani Dutta and two newcomers from Mumbai, Arjun Mahajan and Maya Suryavanshi. The entire unit of this yet-untitled venture left for Malaysia on Sunday evening, as more than 95 per cent of the film will be shot there. 'I'm comfortable shooting my films abroad, especially, in Malaysia, because the cost is reasonable and sometimes, even cheaper than shooting in India. Another advantage is that one can avoid the rigmarole of securing various permits,' informs Chhabra. Biswanath, who is excited about his role, says, 'It is an out-an-out commercial venture, where I play a Malaysia-based driver.' In the film, Kunal Padhy is cast in a negative role and Indrani Dutta is cast in the role of Arjun's mother. 'I also wanted to cast Roopa Ganguly, but she couldn't do this film due to prior commitments,' says Chhabra. But isn't budget still a constraint for Bengali films? 'Well, for me budget wasn't a hindrance at all. The unit, too, was pretty excited,' Chhabra signs off.
