Based on
Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay
’s story ‘Mognomainak’, Sayantan Ghosal directed ‘
Satyanweshi Byomkesh
’ offered a different take on Byomkesh from earlier adaptations. While in most of the earlier Byomkesh films crime has found its way into family relationships and vengeance, ‘Satyanweshi Byomkesh’ highlights the political aspect of a murder mystery and it has received appreciation from all corners after the October 2 release.
And now, ‘Satyanweshi Byomkesh’ will be traveling to the US. After winning hearts here, the detective thriller will be screened in New Jersey at the Princeton Garden Theater on November 16.
The film is set against the backdrop of Calcutta in 1971, when the Bangladesh Liberation War was on and the Naxal movement had also ignited unrest inside and outside Bengal. Interestingly, in 2009, Parambrata had played the protagonist Animesh in Goutam Ghose’s Kaalbela which also showed that particular period.
Portraying such a challenging character,
Parambrata Chatterjee hasn’t deviated from his usual mannerism and have done a decent job as a young Byomkesh, the observant Bengali detective with equal proportion of wit, subtle humour and inherent wisdom. He also manages to keep the audience engaged with his interesting dialogue delivery.
Produced by Greentouch Entertainment, the film also stars
Rudranil Ghosh as Ajit and
Anjan Dutt, Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Suprobhat Das in pivotal roles.
