‘Boomerang’

, an upcoming Bengali comedy directed by

Sudipta Majumder

, has completed its shoot in record time and that too within five days.

Paran Bandopadhyay, Sujan Mukherjee,

Kanchan Mallick

and Anindita Bose will be seen as the four main characters in the film.

The plot sees a struggling filmmaker Akshar Nandi (Sujan Mukherjee) helming remakes of mostly South Indian movies. Almost every film fails at the box office since the audience is not interested in remakes anymore. Thus he is been named

‘Remake Raja’

in the industry.

Akshar’s love interest Mitra (Anindita Bose) tries to persuade him with original contents but Akshar only wants to focus on remakes. On Mitra’s birthday, the frustrated filmmaker finds an interesting story, courtesy of a salesman’s (Kanchan) diary. He decides to make his next film based on that story. But a murder spoils the party and Mitra calls inspector Brahmanand Bhat (Paran Bandopadhyay) to investigate the murder. What happens next forms the crux of the film.

While speaking about his character in the film, actor Sujan Mukherjee said, "I have already acted as a theatre director in one of my previous films, but it’s the first time I am playing a filmmaker on screen."
