Makers of Bengali film plan to gift a DVD to Shoojit Sircar before he starts shooting With Shoojit Sircar planning to make a film on Mohun Bagans historic win against East Yorkshire Regiment on July 29, 1911, with
John Abraham in the lead, theres a lot of excitement in Bengal. Makers of
Egaro, which had already paid a celluloid tribute to the event, are now looking forward to gift the films DVD to the
Madras Cafe director.
Anilava Chatterjee, who choreographed the football match in
Egaro, had earlier sent the films DVD to Aamir Khan, who took great interest in the movie. I had also gifted another DVD to Ranbir Kapoor during a celebrity football match. In fact, Ranbir and Abhishek, apart from John, are wellknown football enthusiasts in Bollywood. John is also a friend of Bhaichung Bhutia and takes the game seriously. When I read that Shoojit is yet to watch
Egaro, I immediately thought of gifting him a DVD, says Anilava, who will also be choreographing the football sequences in Parambrata Chatterjees next on Shankarlal Chakrabortys life starring Prosenjit Chatterjee.
The historic event, which is now part of the Higher Secondary syllabus, needs to be relived, feels Tollywood. Its great that the country will be able to learn about what I think was the real
Lagaan. The IFA Shield victory by
Mohun Bagan went a long way in boosting the morale of the country reeling under British rule, says Anilava.
Hirak Das, who played captain Sibdas Bhaduri, is also excited. A Bollywood film on the subject would just be perfect. More and more people will now learn about the event that was a significant chapter in Indias freedom movement, he says.
Meanwhile, director of
Egaro, Arun Roy, is also busy planning a remake of his movie in Hindi. We are trying our best to make
Egaro in Hindi. Lets see what happens, he adds.
