‘Bohurupi’ is in the third week of its theatrical run and shows no signs of slowing down. The Windows film has been the blockbuster hit amongst the Durga Puja releases this year and has successfully crossed the 10 crore mark in the Box Office. The Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy directorial film crossed 10.50 crore on Saturday and as per the Sunday numbers, the film will be bagging 90 lacs more, which pushes the mark to 11.40 crore. Even after Durga Puja is over, ‘Bohurupi’ has managed to sell more than 1K tickets in an hour, which is a noteworthy statistic.

Despite the ongoing protests and demonstrations regarding the RG Kar rape-murder incident, Durga Puja has been a blessing to the Bengali entertainment industry this year and has brought the audience back to the theatres. Apart from ‘Bohurupi’, ‘Tekka’ and ‘Shastri’ were this year’s Puja offerings of the Bengali entertainment industry. As per the Box Office collection numbers, ‘Bohurupi’ took the lead very early on. At the end of the second weekend, the Windows film pocketed 7.71 crores in Bengal BO alone. With the national release of the film on its second Friday of the theatrical run, the numbers are now skyrocketing.

Owing to ‘Bohurupi’s widespread acceptance and huge popularity, the theatre authorities are increasing the show numbers in the city. Hence, the increase in footfall. Bangalore reportedly recorded 11 houseful shows of the Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Koushani Mukherjee starrer film last Sunday.

Windows is hopeful that ‘Bohurupi’ will cross the 12 crore mark even before the Diwali weekend.

‘Bohurupi’ has been one of the most anticipated Bengali films of this year. The film boasts an ensemble cast of actors like Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee, and Shiboprosad Mukherjee with Shiboprosad himself and Nandita Roy as the director of the film. 'Bohurupi', Bengal's first action-chase drama, revolves around some daring bank robberies that happened in West Bengal in the nineties. The storyline of the film centres around the conspirators, and the administration’s battle to catch the criminal. Apart from the gripping story of the film, the music album of ‘Bohurupi’ too has created an impact on the audience. With songs like ‘Shimul Polash’, ‘Dakatiya Banshi’, ‘Aj Shara Bela’, ‘Bohurupi’ has been able to capture the listeners with their brilliance. Even before its release, the music rights of the film were sold for Rs 50 lacs.
