Bobby plays promoter in 'Alor Basha'

Bobby Chakraborty plays a promoter in a new soap titled, ���������Alor Basha���������.
He has won hearts with his Kanishka act in ���������Ogo Bodhu Sundori���������. And now, actor Bobby Chakraborty is all set to create an impact with a new soap, titled, ���������Alor Basha���������. Giving a peak into the storyline, Bobby says, ���������This one narrates the tale of a joint family, which is at the point of disintegrating.It is then, a girl called Alo, comes. I play the eldest grandson in a family headed by his granddad. Barun Chanda plays this character, while Biswajit Chakraborty is my on-screen dad.���������
Talking about his character, Bobby adds, ���������My character, Sangramjit Moitra, is the black sheep of the family. He is an ambitious, materialistic promoter, who isn���������t exactly scrupulous. He aspires to be like his mejo kaka. There is also tension between him and his wife.���������
Ask him why he chose to be a part of this project and the actor explains, ���������For the past three months, my life was in absolute disarray with my mother lying on her death bed. Imagine my fate, when at that point in time, I got a lucrative offer from one of the leading production houses in Kolkata. But sadly, I had to decline. Next the unit of ���������Subarnalata��������� got in touch with me thrice for a substantial role, but I had to say no to them too. ���������Mukhosh Manush���������, which will soon be aired on a private Bengali channel, had started its look test from June. While Tota was zeroed in on to play the lead, Rishi was to play the police officer and I was selected for the villains���������s part. But things didn���������t quite work out between the channel and the production house and this called for a change of producer. The new makers offered me another role in the same. But I wasn���������t convinced. At such a time, this offer came to me and I lapped it up as I found the character interesting.���������
Bobby has also recently, shot for a Tathagata Bhattacharya���������s short film titled, ���������Teacher���������. ���������This one is about the controversy surrounding corporal punishment, whether it should be exercised and if so, to what extent. I play a good teacher in the film, which is set for a screening in November before it makes a round of the festival circuit,��������� continues the actor.
Interestingly, he has also been part of a Hindi film ���������Muskaan��������� by Anil Anniah. ���������But I am not sure about the commercial prospects of this venture, which also has Bhaswar Chatterjee and Rita Bhaduri,��������� he says.
For one who believes in quality and not quantity, Bobby says that his selective work is well-received and well-appreciated, but ���������sadly, these don���������t translate into work.��������� But there is one work that has brought a smile to his lips. ���������I have done a cameo in Kaushik Ganguly���������s ���������Ar Ekti Premer Golpo���������. Though it is just a scene, I am glad to get an opportunity to work with Kaushikda and Rituparno Ghosh. In fact, Rituda is my inspiration to take up this profession,��������� signs off Bobby.
