Finally, here’s some good news about
Indraadip Dasgupta’s next release. The ace music director had floored all with his directorial debut ‘Kedara’ which stars
Kaushik Ganguly in the lead. Since then, everyone is eagerly waiting to see how he wins hearts yet again with his craftsmanship in his next film. Well, his next ‘
Bismillah’ is all set to release on 19 August.
The teaser of the film is already out and it beautifully explores the story of a musician torn between his passion and carrying out a legacy.
It shows Bismillah, a Muslim flutist, who often appears dressed as Krishna. The scenes of his romantic moments with Subhasree look like draws reference from Krishna and Radha’s love saga while the glimpses of Surangana Bandopadhyay, likely playing a young Vaishnavite widow, explores an innocent childhood friendship.
Kaushik Ganguly playing a shehnai ustad adds a new dimension to the narrative.
“Bismillah focuses on the tradition of a musical family and how foreign intrusion creates disturbance in it. A musician not only goes through music but his or her surroundings and environment moulds him or her growth as well. With the growth, his or her music begins to take a shape and changes too. This is also one of the projects closest to my heart since ‘
Nagarkirtan’ and it deals with the issue of communal harmony also,” shares the director.
Riddhi Sen stars in and as ‘Bismillah’ in the film, a story delineating the journey and evolution of a musician. It also stars Kaushik Ganguly,
Bidipta Chakraborty,
Subhashree Ganguly,
Rudranil Ghosh, Damini Benny Basu and Surangana Bandopadhyay.
