The filming of Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan has halted its shoot for a few days as some members of the cast and crew, including Rukmini Maitra, are recovering from viral attacks. On Monday, director Ram Kamal Mukherjee took to social media to share the news. “Team Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan get well soon! You guys are fighters and will make it happen.
It's unfortunate that major cast and crew members got a viral attack at the shoot.
Rukmini Maitra along with my entire directorial team, my art department, costume department and hair and make-up team are suffering from some viral attack and high fever. They are under medical treatment and precautions to regain themselves back to work. Praying for their speedy recovery. Please pray for my team and their recovery. Hari Guru, Guru Hari. (sic). Rukmini too posted on social media that she is running 102.2 temperature,
Ram Kamal revealed that the team was in the middle of shooting a dance sequence when Rukmini fell ill. “We were shooting for a high voltage dance sequence when suddenly Rukmini lost her senses just like Binodasi Dasi in real life. We thought that she must be too stressed as she is too much into the character. But then she realised that she was running a temperature of 103. Then I realised that almost my whole team is down with medical problems. So, from today we are not shooting. We will resume shooting after a week when the entire team recovers,” said Ram. He added, "Rukmini is extremely hard-working and thoroughly professional. She wore a knee cap for the heavy jumps in the dance, as she went through knee issues three months ago and the doctor asked her to be careful and not put pressure on her knees.
But for the role, she took that risk and jumped for the song. Not just once but several times until we wrapped the song."
In a recent interview with CT, Rukmini shared her excitement about playing the iconic thespian, Binodini. “I am very excited about this film! I hope it is a milestone and makes a mark in the history of Bengali cinema. Not because I am doing it but because of the woman, the icon we are presenting on screen. An iconic, legendary personality. Her fight and flight is something to look up to. She is the 'Queen of Indian Stage' and she has literally carved the way for us,” she said.
