Bidipta Chakraborty is happy to play a mother’s role in Alo Chaya. “It is so nice to work with kids. You learn so many new things from them. I play
a mother to Chaya and Alo, who is an orphan. I brought her home because I know she is the daughter of my sister, who had gone missing. Hiya Dey, who used to play Potol in Potol Kumar Gaanwala, plays Alo. My daughter, Ida, is so happy that I am playing Hiya’s on-screen mother! She even told me that I don’t need to play Chaya’s mother because I look good with Alo,” she said with a smile.
Talking about her working experience with them, Bidipta said, “Today’s kids are so smart and focused that at times they just bowl me over.
Even my younger daughter is smarter than my elder one,” said the actress.
The actress is also part of
Anik Dutta’s film, Barun Babur Bondhu, where she plays
Kaushik Sen’s wife.Speaking about her character in the film, Bidipta said, “The character I play sings very well. So, Anikda made me sing three Rabindra Sangeet numbers in my own voice for the film. Needless to say, I really enjoyed the experience since singing is my passion.”
Bidipta is also part of Rajarshi Dey’s film Purba, Paschim, Dakshin (Uttor Asbei). It is a paranormal thriller that is an adaptation of Avik Sarkar’s short story collection, Ebong Inquisition.
“The film rationalises the good and the bad sides of popular beliefs and age-old ideas, the evil of superstition and the dark side of mankind,” she told us.
What’s more, Bidipta will miss Puja this year since she is flying off to Europe with her husband,
Birsa Dasgupta. “This year, the kids are not going with us, as they want to enjoy Puja here,” she signed off.
