In 1970 Byomkesh stories came to a standstill when its creator Saradindu Bandopadhyay breathed his last keeping the last story ‘Bishupal Bodh’ incomplete. However, the iconic detective’s glorious journey on the silver screen is still going smoothly. This year we will get to see the sleuth in a whole new avatar – an octogenarian Byomkesh in Debaloy Bhattacharya’s upcoming spin-off ‘Bidaay Byomkesh’.
The official poster of the film was released on Thursday and it features
Abir Chatterjee in two different looks; an ageing, bald Byomkesh and a young grandson Satyaki.
There is one more good news for the fans. The official trailer of ‘Bidaay Byomkesh’ will be released this Saturday evening.
The film focuses on the detective’s personal journey through his many investigations over the years. The character of Satyaki, played by Abir, has been originally introduced by the director himself and doesn’t take any reference from Saradindu Bandyopadhyay's works.
Whether the Byomkesh saga comes to an abrupt end or Satyaki embarks on a new journey carrying forward his famous grandfather’s legacy, remains at the crux of the mystery.
