Tathagata Mukherjee’s next ‘Bhotbhoti’ is a modern-day fairytale-love story. The film blends fiction with reality in a story of a young man
Bhotbhoti
and a mermaid Ariel.
Bhotbhoti is from a slum near the Ganges. He is obsessed with the belief that there’s a mermaid in the river and his fantasy turns real when he meets the mermaid Ariel. While
Rishav Basu plays Bhotbhoti,
Bibriti Chatterjee will be seen as the mermaid. Dipankar Dey,
Mamata Shankar and
Rajatava Dutta are also part of the cast. Tathagata himself and his actress-wife Debleena Dutta Mukherjee will be seen in key roles.
The teaser of ‘Bhotbhoti’ jointly produced by Prateek Chakravorty, Animesh Ganguly and Soumya Sarkar is already out. It doesn’t divulge anything about the plot or any detailing of the characters but still grabs attention as a visual treat. It’s like a collage of interesting frames nicely captured by DOP Pratip Mukherjee. The soulful background score by Mayookh Bhaumik adds the cherry on top of it.
The subject is surely an innovative. The narrative style is also impressive. So, it will be interesting to see whether the audience accepts the experimental film this summer.
