Sanghamitra Chaudhuri has already shot her Kashmir portions for K.Loda in Kashmir. CT shutterbug zoomed in on her when she was canning the shots of her Kolkata leg for the same. Caught in action were Bhola Tamang, Sangita, Priyanka Banerjee, Shankar Chakraborty and Pallavi Chatterjee. Interestingly, the unit is using a set up to show a hotel room in Kashmir.
Said the film-maker about the sequence, Sangita, who plays Padmini, K.Lodas (Bhola) wife, is bent on wearing a modern outfit, much to his dislike. An argument ensues between the two. There is another sequence involving Pallavidi, Shankar Chakraborty and Priyanka. Here, Ichhe (Priyanka) is on her way to Kashmir and her dada-boudi (Shankar-Pallavi) enquire if she has the money required on her. Joyjit Banerjee is her boyfriend.
When asked why she chose Bhola to play the lead, Sanghamitra confessed, This is probably the first time that he is playing the lead. I was looking for someone to play the idiot. Bhola fit the role to the T. His comic timing is excellent. What added to the plot were his improvisations. He also gave valuable inputs to the story.
From being a face in the crowd to having given a back shot for his first take, Bhola is equally elated to have bagged the lead. Said the actor, who is known to tickle the audiences funnybone, Ive done more than 110 films now. It is good to know that I have been offered a meaty role such as Kamal Kumar Lodhs after having started my filmi journey at 70 to 75 to be a face in the crowd. What drew me to the role was the fact that K.Loda has a concrete shape unlike the usual comic characters of commercial Bengali films. The different shades and colours in the character were impressive. I liked the directors conviction and the freedom to interpret the character according to my sensibility. Incidentally, Bhola also plays a comic character in Shikarokti, which also stars Angsuman and Rimjhim Mitra.
It was a thumbs up from Pallavi too. The actor stressed that she had a blast shooting with a woman director. I have directed but working with a woman director certainly gives a high. And after Aparna Sen, this is the second time that I have been directed by one. I also worked with Shankar in Dosar but we never got to share the screen. We are lucky this time around, shared the actor.
Besides shooting, Sanghamitra is also busy with the song recordings. Said the director, Anwesha, composer Soumya Bose and Ananya have sung a couple of tracks for the film. We also intend to shoot a number for the end credit roll. We will have the NG shots and animation with this number.
