Neetu Chandra, who recently turned producer with a Bhojpuri film, wants to dub it in Bengali since the content is revelant in the context of contemporary Kolkata. She loves to be introduced as the youngest heroine in Bollywood to have turned producer. A proud Bihari, Neetu Chandra is extremely happy with the way her production debut is shaping up. Whats more, the actor is now planning to get that dubbed in Bengali because the context of the film is very pertinent in terms of todays Kolkata.
Bhojpuri cinema needs a youth icon.
I was recently anointed the youth icon by the Chief Minister of Bihar. I cant be a youth icon and not do anything for the state that has produced the likes of Dr
Rajendra Prasad and Ustad Bismillah Khan saab. Since I have a responsibility, I decided to produce my first Bhojpuri film that deals with the issue of migration. Having done 14 films, I know how to handle my finances. Besides, there are seven seniors around me to help manage the production, says Neetu.
The working title of the film is Deswa. It could get changed to Desh too. The film is about three youngsters who are trying to get a job in this belt. My brother,
Nitin Chandra, is making his directorial debut with this film that explores why the people of Bihar need to shift out of the state to get a job. Its a democratic country and, of course, everyone has that choice to live wherever he or she wants. But the shift should be by choice and not by pressure. Too much of migration happens from Bihar, Bengal and UP. Every time, there is a brain drain, we cant blame the system. Its time to introspect and take the onus on ourselves.
If a person wants to open a business and make a name for himself, why does he first think of making a name by shifting to Mumbai? Why cant a Kolkatan think of making a name while being based in Kolkata itself? Why cant we stop forced migration? My film explores this issue in the context of Bihar and is very relevant in terms of contemporary Kolkata, she insists.
What makes Neetu proud is the fact that the whole film has been shot in Bihar. Bhojpuri films are usually shot outside Bihar. Either its in and around Mumbai or somewhere in UP. I was keen on shooting in real locations of Bihar. I want to give a facelift to Bhojpuri cinema that has earned a raunchy tag. My film explores a serious issue and doesnt have skin show, says the actor, who will be seen next in No Problem, Mumbai Cutting, Kusar
Prasad Ka Bhoot and Kuch Love Jaisa.
But why didnt she act in the film? My brother felt I didnt suit the role of the heroine, she chuckles, adding, The lead is being played by Aarti Puri.
